Robert Oster has once again written a fun-filled book which defies category. The five short stories within these pages involve some sort of criminal activity. Yet, each one has been written within a different genre.

Sorry Street focuses on a troubled mystery book author’s attempt to finish writing a book he gave up trying to complete; Saddle Sores is an old west themed story about a dying mining town beset by onslaughts of outlaws; Znoof is a spoof on science fiction movies in which a dead mobster’s body is inhabited by an alien from another galaxy; The Waters’ Edge tells the tale of a real-estate broker who devises a scheme to sell only high-end luxury properties; Baxter’s Conundrum is narrated by a former con artist who recounts the last swindle that ended his criminal career.

As with all of the author’s works of fiction, they contain ample spoonfuls of satirical Osterian wit peppered with his characteristic fake and real quotations and questionable historic facts, all sprinkled with tongue-in-cheek humor.
